Oprah Winfrey must really love Telluride, Colorado. Just last year, she bought over 60 acres of land there, and already, she’s back to snag an additional 3.25 acres in the area.
Winfrey’s recently-purchased property in the charming ski town includes an 8,700-square-foot main residence, a guest house, and a three-car garage.
The five-bedroom, six-and-half-bathroom home, which comes with a theater, a seven-person hot tub, a Finnish-made sauna, a gym, multiple wood-burning fireplaces, and a tower room, is said to have some “stand-out features,” such as the uniquely-designed wine cellar that is a replica of an old mining tunnel. The 56-foot-long cellar features both the sounds of wood creaking and water dripping and an antique ore cart, while fitting up to 1,600 bottles of wine. The master bedroom connects to an office via a glass fiber-optic bridge that is suspended above the great room. The 35-foot high observation deck has a fire pit and was $140,000 to build.
The high-tech, custom-built home has many remote-controlled features. The driveway stays snow-free, due to a radiant heat system, while a $70,000 bathtub that is made of limestone maintains its water temperature, as a result of its own system.
The estate was formerly a property of tech bigwig Bob Wall. The avid art collector offered the home that was built in 2001 fully furnished to Winfrey. It came complete with various pieces of African artworks.
