Here are a few questions we posed to Joyce Rey about the Beverly Hills Real Estate Market, the amenities provided in the area, and the qualities that make it one of the most sought after places to live.

What local amenities does this area have to offer (parks, community center, recreation programs)?

The finest dining in the world, world famous chefs in the most exciting restaurants. Some of the world’s most beautiful hotels, outstanding museums like the Getty and LACMA. Gorgeous theatres and concert halls like Disney Concert Hall. Franklin Canyon in the heart of Beverly Hills where one can go hiking around a lake. All of the first run movies in theatres (including independents) spread all over the community. A wonderful opera company. The Hollywood Bowl which is everyone’s favorite outdoor theatre with a diversity of talent.

Can you describe the local school system, and what type of education children get here (private, public, charter - focus on sports, the arts, etc.)?

Our school systems are quite diversified. We do have many charter schools in the public system. Beverly Hills schools are known to be among the best in the country. As well as some of the finest Universities, State Colleges and Junior Colleges in the country.

What is the community culture like (i.e. private, gated, urban, diverse, etc)

We have our guard gated communities which celebrities tend to gravitate towards for their need of privacy. We have a large number of private gated estates. We have certain areas where you can purchase a smaller home and walk into the city!

What is transportation like to the area's major surrounding cities, or within the city?

The chief source of transportation in Los Angeles in by automobile.

Are there any local traditions that bring the community together? (sports events, charity events, sales, holiday celebrations)?

Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers are big draws to the city. The UNICEF Ball is an incredible evening although it happens every other year.

What is the job market like or major industries that are at the core of this area?

Jobs are drawn from all over Southern California. In Beverly Hills, many of the citizens have become very successful in their fields of endeavor. We do see a lot of entrepreneurs in every type of industry. The entertainment industry is of course the most commonly associated with Los Angeles.

What are some thriving small local businesses that make an impact in the community?

There are many independently owned, fabulous, restaurant and clothing boutiques throughout the city.

What are the local property taxes like and what other financial responsibilities should a property owner in this area be prepared for?

Property taxes are based on approximately 1.25% of the purchase price of your home in California. The property owner will also need to be responsible for their contents, liability and structure.
