Real estate agents are expected to be absolute experts on their respective regions. What steps do you take in order to ensure you know positively all that you need to in order to keep your clients well informed?

Realtors need to keep [their fingers on] the pulse of the local economic development committees and chambers of commerce so that they know what’s happening in commercial land development and can project how that affects residential sales and development.

For example in our market, DFW, there has been great news of Toyota moving its corporate headquarters from Torrance, California, to north Plano. Sellers are already adjusting expectations of higher housing values.  As someone who has been through these moves in the past and who is in contact with city planners I know that most of the workers who choose to move here will not actually relocate until 2016. So I can assure sellers today that the current market will not support inflated prices based on something that will happen in two years. Appraisals are not based on the future – they are based on past performance.

I also believe it’s important to be involved in political campaigns as a way to stay informed about any state and national bills that might affect home ownership. I am heavily involved with the National Association of Realtors, the Texas Association of Realtors® and the Collin County Association of Realtors.

My market is a culturally rich market with many great museums, restaurants, golf courses and sports teams. Part of my job as a real estate expert is to stay up-to-date on the cultural aspects of our city so that when people are looking to relocate to our area I know how to help them find the best location. As a real estate professional I have the privilege of building diverse knowledge of the place where I live and work so that I can have the best life possible and share my knowledge with clients so that they an make informed investment decisions.
