What's the most popular amenity or property feature buyers look for in a summer home?
A home that has a seamless indoor/outdoor flow is key. Buyers focus on the outdoor area and how it integrates into the main living areas of the home—a pool, fabulous yard, outdoor kitchen, entertaining area—all are at the top of the list for summer homes. Also, many buyers are focused on views—what’s better than entertaining poolside and enjoying a gorgeous view of the sunset, all from the comfort of your own home?
If a seller was looking to renovate his or her home on a budget prior to selling, what are the top two areas in a house he or she should focus on improving? (Which two spaces—if fully renovated—could boost the seller's asking price the most?)
Kitchen and bathrooms are the two areas most people go to in terms of doing work, but on a tight budget, a remodel may not be doable. Focusing on flooring (Do the carpets need to be replaced? Floors refinished?) and paint (Are the rooms dark, and would lightening them up with a fresh coat of white paint make a big impact? The right white is always imperative!) are two inexpensive ways to make a big impact on overall value.
