Patrick Mahomes’ Kansas City House Is A Mid-Century Modern MVP

In only his third year as an NFL quarterback, Patrick Mahomes has reached the top of his profession, becoming the youngest player to win the MVP award since Dan Marino did it in 1984. This season his arm has guided the Kansas City Chiefs to their first AFC title since 1993 and now a chance to raise the Vince Lombardi Trophy as NFL champions--if the Chiefs can defeat the San Fransisco Forty-Niners in Super Bowl LIV.

It's heady stuff for the curly-locked QB who only celebrated his 24th birthday last September.

Another milestone, Mahomes is celebrating, along with the records and accolades he's accumulating on the field, is the purchase of his first home that he shares with his girlfriend, Brittany Matthews. "Renting wasn't for us. We wanted our own place," Mahomes told Bleacher Report in August of 2019. The 3,759-square-foot home is located in a private upscale community in the heart of Kansas City.

Chiefs fans are hoping that Mahomes home purchase signifies a long stay in Kansas City for the talented player who is poised to receive a huge payday now that he's able to negotiate an extension to his old three-year rookie deal. Agents and analysts believe Mahomes' new deal could break salary records in the NFL and bank the star well North of $100 million guaranteed.

Money like that would make this 1.9 million home look like a bargain in comparison, but Mahomes seems to be very comfortable in his new digs with no desire to relocate. He gets his daily schedule read out loud to him by his Google Assistant on his Nest tablet. Google Nest also controls the lighting, music, and home security system. Besides, moving would mean having to box up all those cool shoes.

The house sits on a large green lot with plenty of backyard space for the dogs to play. Built in 1953, the three-bedroom, with the chef's kitchen and open floor plan has the clean lines and connection to nature that many of the best homes from that era are known for.

Mahomes leaves the decorating to Brittany and interior designer Marci Knoff. The dark woods, fireplaces, white walls and gray furniture accents give the house a relaxed and comfortable vibe--the perfect contrast for a guy who spends his workdays evading 300-pound rushers who want to pummel him before he slings another touchdown.
