Once upon a time, at the end of a majestic driveway, lined with lush green trees was a grand mansion, filled with people from all over the world, who came to enjoy its beauty.

Although, this is no fairytale. It's Australia's Campbell Point House, an exquisite 37-acre estate of unparalleled elegance and sophistication.

Offering a total of 15 bedrooms and 12 bathrooms in the main residence and three cottages, the property was completed in 2008 as a private residence but is currently operating as a boutique hotel.

Mr. Cussell says: “Campbell Point House may ultimately appeal to a private hotel operator, given the hard work that has been done in planning and building such a rare property. It has enormous potential to capitalize even further on the luxury wedding market, being so close to Melbourne. We have already received interest from families looking for a large holiday retreat with direct access to the lake and the beach. We are also expecting interest from overseas buyers seeking a trophy Australian asset.”

A private gate opens to a long drive, first through a thick stand of trees to increase privacy from the road before emerging onto an expansive manicured lawn that includes matching water features with statues on either side. The drive terminates at a large auto court with a formal garden.

The main residence is introduced by a double-height entry hall and majestic stone staircase winding to the second level. The generous wall space is ideal for displaying large pieces of an art collection. The long foyer, with black and white, checked floors, leads to the spacious living room with bar to the left and the grand dining hall to the right. Ahead, the foyer continues to the magnificent billiards room and the library, both with two facing fireplaces. A massive terrace extends across the rear of the manor, with access from all the main rooms and overlooking the spectacular formal garden and the lake beyond.

Informal living and dining areas, a conservatory, integrated wine refrigeration units (as part of a wine-cellar grotto), and a commercial-grade chef’s kitchen complete the first level.

The second floor features four en suite bedrooms, each with a fireplace. The entire third floor is reserved for the master suite, featuring an oversized bedroom, large lounge, opulent bath and two dressing areas.

The grounds of Campbell Point house are beyond compare. Situated on some 37 acres of lakefront, the swimming pool, with Lake Connewarre as its backdrop, is accompanied by an adjacent pool house with a sauna and stunning solid marble bath. Additional structures on the property include two three-bedroom cottages, a four-bedroom Lake House, a caretaker’s cottage, a grass tennis court with bleachers, a boat shed, a jetty, a pavilion, and a utility building with staff amenities. A helicopter landing site has been approved for the property.

“Campbell Hill house offers a rare combination of privacy and accessibility,” said Zackary Wright, executive vice president, Christie’s International Real Estate. “Although it is situated in a scenic, low-density southern coastal portion of the state of Victoria, this estate is only a 15-minute helicopter ride from Melbourne, yet is a world away, and indeed, a world unto itself.”
