Why did you choose Real Estate?
Maxine chose real estate as her career 47 years ago after a successful career in fashion sales. She decided to use her sales skills towards selling homes rather than clothes! Marti began in real estate 38 years ago upon graduating from UCLA with a degree in Kinesiology. Tired of school, she decided to forego graduate school for home sales and started her own business in Del Mar, while Maxine was selling real estate in the heart of San Diego. They became partners in 1994, 9 years into Marti's career when she had her first child.
What was your journey to where you are today?
Since joining as partners in 1994, our partnership has grown into a team of 12...4 full-time administrative assistants and 8 salespeople including Maxine and Marti. We are native San Diegans and sell primarily along the Coastal areas of San Diego but also have the knowledge and experience to sell in almost any neighborhood. We have consistently ranked in the Top 10 teams for our global company almost every year for the last 30 years...
What is one of your favorite client stories?
At this point in our careers after selling thousands of homes, it is truly too hard to just pick out one story. So we would have to say that representing the same clients over and over again probably gives us the most joy as we have seen families grow and change and move on from area to area and house to house through generations.
What is your biggest success story to date?
Our biggest success story is the fact that we have had a thriving mother-daughter team since 1994 before family businesses or teams were even "a thing" and have grown the business to employ and mentor others to success. We enjoy helping others around us, not by just helping our clients buy or sell houses, but to help those that work on and for our team.
What makes your market unique?
We work primarily in the Coastal areas of San Diego that include La Jolla, Del Mar, and Encinitas. Because the locales are near the beach we deal with a lot of second home purchases, in addition to the year-round residents. The communities offer urban experiences with lots of shopping and easily accessible amenities rather than a suburban type of living. The beach is the focus for living here whether you surf, swim, or just enjoy seeing it or walking on the beach.
