“Here in North Carolina, we have a complicated market in which to sell solar,” says Bryan Jimenez, CEO and Founder of Alpha Energy. Rising utility costs, paired with a lack of consumer education, make it difficult to persuade residents to switch to solar energy. Earlier this year, however, many saw a jump in their monthly bill as a result of a rate increase by a leading energy provider. Approved by the North Carolina Utilities Commission, the increase was implemented to help “strengthen the electricity grid and improve reliability during severe weather conditions as [the company] transitions away from fossil fuel sources.”

This raises concerns for many who feel the temperature is rising due to higher costs. Thankfully, Alpha Energy has been able to withstand the heat, offering homeowners a solution that is both environmentally and economically sustainable.

“We have the sun coming out daily. But it’s something we don’t pay enough attention to as humans. As far as we know, it’s the most abundant thing in the universe, yet we’re not utilizing its power to its full capacity,” Jimenez continues.

NASA has calculated that, on average, 44 quadrillion watts of power fall upon Earth each year—nearly 10,000 times our present needs.

The solar entrepreneur is adamant that harnessing even a fraction of this immense energy could transform the way we power our lives. He highlights that the true value for residents lies in having control over how much they pay.

“Solar gives them a flat rate, allowing homeowners to budget towards it. Whereas with utility, not only is the rate increasing, you have no control over how much you’re going to pay month after month,” Jimenez explains.

A leader in “one of the toughest markets to sell solar in,” Alpha Energy has one main priority right now: "being the best.”

The CEO attributes this success to his creation of a supportive work environment and his desire to grow alongside his team. Alpha Energy's commitment to excellence extends beyond just their team, though. The company places a strong emphasis on customer satisfaction, ensuring that every interaction is smooth and every question is answered.

This customer-centric approach has paid off. Alpha Energy has seen a steady increase in referrals and repeat business, which Jimenez views as a testament to their quality and reliability. “We focus on the little things which have allowed us to get bigger,” he says.

Currently serving the Greensboro and Charlotte areas in North Carolina, Jimenez has his sights set on getting to the point where “solar in NC is synonymous with Alpha Energy.”

In upcoming months, he shares plans of expansion to other states, including Massachusetts and Florida, as well as steps taken to make Alpha Energy a vertically integrated company. This would mean that all of their services, including installs, marketing, and customer operations, will be done in-house—something that Jimenez is passionate about to ensure Alpha Energy is doing everything it can to support and uplift the communities in which he operates.

In a state where selling solar energy is no easy undertaking, Alpha Energy is not just surviving; it’s thriving. Through innovative strategies, a strong team, and a strong commitment to customer satisfaction, Bryan Jimenez and his company are shining a bright light on the path forward for renewable energy in North Carolina.
