A California home once belonging to legendary singer and actor Bing Crosby is soon to be listed at $5 million.
The nearly 7,000-square-foot ranch was allegedly built for the crooner around 1957, and is located in the gated Thunderbird Heights community in Rancho Mirage. It is situated on about an acre of land, and boasts breathtaking views of the mountains and Coachella Valley.
The classy and streamlined look of the famously-owned abode shouts mid-century elegance. It has five bedrooms, six bathrooms, and a copious amount of luxury features.
In addition to a pool, spa, and home theater, the home has retractable glass walls that open its full backside, leading to extended patios with barbecue area and bar.
The ultra-plush master bedroom has a private patio, fireplace, and lavish marble bathroom en suite, while the guest wing has its own separate entrance.
Additional features include an impressive pillared entry, custom doors, formal living room with fireplace, formal dining room, and a gourmet kitchen with granite countertops and stainless-steel appliances.
Midcentury movie posters enhance the décor, perpetuating a nostalgic “Bing Crosby” theme throughout, as the current owner also happens to be a fan.
The $5 million asking price is a 43 percent jump from several years ago, when it appeared on the market for $3.495 million.
The increase is attributed to “extensive” renovations to the home and improvements in the local real estate market, according to the listing agent, as area homes are being sold between $2 million and $5 million. Another possible cause could be the lingering (but false) rumor President Obama was purchasing a house nearby.
