Bonnie Zarabi's leadership, organizational, communication and negotiation skills are all qualities which contribute to her love and success in New York's luxury real estate market. Bonnie sat down with Haute Residence to discuss the market trends and best advice for someone looking to relocate to Long Island.

What are some of the best dining, drinking and shopping spots in your market?
I really enjoy the restaurants on the North Shore. Right now some of my favorites are Toku in Manhasset and Hana in Port Washington for sushi. Toku, located in the Americana Manhasset, is a real social hotspot and Hana is a great place to catch up with friends.  Both have incredible food. I also enjoy Hendrick’s Tavern in Roslyn; it's a great place to eat and mingle. Plus, on Thursdays they usually have entertainment in the back room, so that’s a fun party. When it comes to Greek, Kyma in Roslyn is my favorite, as it always feels like a vacation. And Cipollini in Manhasset is a great place for getting together with family and friends. Bonus: the food and atmosphere are all top notch.

What advice would you give someone looking to relocate to Long Island?
Notice the vibe you’re looking for. Talk to people and find the community you’re looking to be a part of. Walk through the Main Street on a weekend and see how it feels. Once you’ve selected your town, then we can work together to find the home that’s right for you.

What is your number one advice to buyers looking to make their next purchase?
Know what’s most important to you. For some, it’s the kitchen. For others, it’s the distance to the train. Know yourself; it will save you a lot of time!

How would you describe the New York style and quality of living?
This really depends on where you live. The great thing about living in NY is that there’s something for everyone. Slow paced and laid back, fast paced and high energy. Whatever you’re looking for, you’ll find it in NY!
What real estate market trends have you seen in the last 5 years and where do you see the market and trends going in the next 5?
Long Island is historically a very competitive region for real estate, because there's so much value here and the location can't be beat. Recently, we've seen some price adjustments here on the North Shore, which makes it an even better time to buy. I can't predict the future, but my experience tells me that this particular market adjustment won't last long so it's a good rule of thumb to seize the opportunities while they are still here.
