Downtown Los Angeles’ latest luxury residences, Atelier, designed with a rooftop lounge rising 340 feet in the sky, will open this April, according to press materials.

At Eighth and Olive streets, the 33-story glass building, designed by Solomon Cordwell Buenz in collaboration with developer Carmel Partners, will offer 363 one-, two-, and three-bedroom and penthouse units for rent, with floor-to-ceiling windows.

The top floor will host the rooftop terrace, with a 25-meter-long Olympic-size lap pool and spa, poolside cabanas equipped with fans and HD TVs, and a barbecue and game area with a bocce court, pool tables, two fire pits.

“To capitalize on the Los Angeles weather, the main lounge has a retractable partition that engages the main terrace blurring the line between indoor and outdoor,” says Francesco Mozzati, associate principal at Solomon Cordwell Buenz and project designer for Atelier.

“Two large canopies provide shaded areas and organize the outdoor deck into three distinct outdoor programs; the lounge, a covered sitting area and a sundeck with splash pool,” he goes on. “The composition of the canopies provides a signature roofline and a civic gesture that establishes the character of the tower within the vibrant downtown district.”

Residences range from 1,466 square feet to 1,842 square feet, with nine-foot ceilings for units through the 29th floor, and 10- and 11-foot ceilings on the penthouse levels, floors 30 to 32. Interior finishes––such as German hardwood-style flooring, Italian cabinets, Bosch stainless steel appliances, and marble or quartz countertops––were chosen, according to the project’s website, for their “beauty, resilience, and environmental impact.”

Atelier, which will overlook the recently completed mixed-use complex at Eighth & Grand, will feature 9,900 square feet of retail space, as well. Additional resort-style amenities include a 24-hour concierge, a nearly 3,400-square-foot fitness center with a yoga terrace, a business lounge and conference rooms, a 20-person screening room, a private event lounge, and a pet spa and dog run.
