The best part of Thanksgiving is spending uninterrupted time with family! Since I’m the dessert queen,  I’m always in charge of bringing desserts to the gathering. In the case of my wonderful extended family in San Clemente/Orange County, I love to bring Tarte Tatin, lemon meringue pie, key lime pie, and chocolate chip cookies from The Ivy restaurant! Fortunately, my niece does a stellar job cooking the turkey. Gratitude is one very special emotion and that’s what Thanksgiving is all about. I’m always giving thanks every day for the wonderful blessings of my life!

Debra Johnston, Atlanta, GA

In Atlanta, we like to spend a few days with family and friends celebrating some time together and what we are grateful for, and having a small break from real estate.

Season of Giving kicks off November 1st with our favorite and festive Thanksgiving-time traditions.

On Thanksgiving morning we begin the day with the Annual Piedmont Turkey Trot. The run/walk begins at 8:30 AM. Guests come early to mix, mingle, and sip cocoa and coffee while waiting for the race to begin. It is open to anyone from anywhere and of all ages. Strollers and dogs are welcome, too.

Corcoran Global Living, Piedmont, and Montclair, previously Highland Partners, have been supporting the Alameda Food Bank and the Toy Drive since the inception of Highland Partners in 2009. Since COVID we now accept donations through our virtual drives. The links can be found here. Adam, Chase, and I thank you for your support and wish you and your families a safe, happy, and healthy holiday season.

Our favorite 2 traditions on Thanksgiving are the Turkey Trot Fort Lauderdale and DUNE restaurant.
Featuring a 5k run/walk race, the Turkey Trot course runs along beautiful and scenic A1A, Fort Lauderdale's iconic beach road. Enjoy the ocean breeze and the majestic colors of a South Florida sunrise as you run, walk, or jog the course. Enjoy the perfect winter weather as we only can here in South Florida and raise money for a great cause. Always give back.
Also enjoying oceanfront dining with spectacular oceanside views with family at DUNE by Laurent Tourondel's 2022. The menu was created by the globally acclaimed, Michelin-starred chef and is a must in Fort Lauderdale for Thanksgiving day.

I love watching the Dallas Cowboys play and finding a resort that serves a traditional Thanksgiving Meal in Belize.

I love to start the day with the Baptist Health 5K Turkey Trot at Tropical Park! After that, my husband and I always host a big family gathering at our home in Miami Beach featuring traditional Thanksgiving dishes. This year, I also look forward to a new tradition that comes to Miami Beach from NYC - The Urbanspace Lincoln Road Holiday Market. The market will run from November 15 through February 15 (open daily from 10 am to 9 pm), bringing more than 100 local and out-of-state vendors to the busy pedestrian strip in South Beach. See you there!

Amy Land-de Wilde, St. Croix

I love my Thanksgivings on St. Croix! So many of us have settled here from other places, which seems to create extremely strong bonds. Thanksgiving is such a perfect time to celebrate those bonds!

For me, Thanksgiving typically includes several celebrations with other transplants who have chosen St. Croix as their home. We all bring dishes to share and one of my gatherings also includes a philanthropic component with donations being made to one of our nonprofits.

And of course, what is a Crucian Thanksgiving without taking a beach gratitude walk? Even though most of my mornings start this way, I tend to be a bit more mindful as I comb the beach and give thanks for the beautiful life I have on St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands!

We hold a progressive lunch showcasing 3 to 4 of our properties the first week or so of December. Our Luxury Realtor colleagues love this tradition.

We also send out a market update to our existing clients and potential customers sharing the national - local - and hyper-local markets.

In a warm weather market like Sarasota, seasonal holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas have a bit of a twist on tradition! One of the most amazing things about living here is the ability to enjoy being outside at any time of year. I love taking advantage of our sunny climate and tropical surroundings on Thanksgiving Day to stretch my legs with a walk beside Sarasota Bay - the perfect way to get ready for a big family meal.

This year, I added a new tradition to my Thanksgiving routine by inviting clients and friends to pick up pies as a gift for their holiday tables. We delivered extra pies to local first responders, a special thanks for this year's heroic efforts during Hurricane Ian. Reflecting on the resilience and unity of our community makes me grateful, and enjoying the holiday at home this year is especially sweet.

Getting a great start to holiday shopping by supporting some of the amazing local artists and boutiques that Lake Tahoe is known for. Recent fresh snow means that several ski resorts opened early this year meaning that winter is truly here!
