The holidays are rapidly approaching and nothing makes a great impression on guests like a tasteful powder room.

Haute Design Experts share inspiration and pointers on how to design the perfect powder room for all the guests you'll be entertaining this holiday season.
Leslie Saul & Associates
When we were hired to renovate a historically important mansion in Brookline, MA, the powder room was the victim of a 1960s’ renovation where they dropped the ceiling and covered the window with a “mod” curved wall. We wanted to bring the powder room back to the quality of the original late 19th century house, adding pilasters and mirrors to expand the feeling of the narrow, long space. The vaulted ceiling was inspired by the client’s visit to Alhambra. The mosaic tile installation was challenging, but it makes the tiny space worthy of the house.

LULO Design Studio
One of our favorite spaces to design at LULO Design Studio is the powder room. It’s that half bathroom for guests to use with which we always want to go bold. Here, we love to think outside the box, we love to showcase the space and bring interesting design details to make it a statement. One of the most visible elements in this powder room is the unique freestanding vanity that instantly adds style to the space and takes the design to another level. We wanted to impress visitors with the “wow factor” by bringing dark contrast tones, finishes on all surfaces, large scale mirror to make the space seem bigger and soft light to make them feel comfortable - all great ways to make a powder room design stand out.

The Nielsen Collection
One of the most important rooms in your home to showcase is the powder bath. This space is designed to merge nature with elegance. The curved wall is wrapped with Airslate and the natural stone elliptical basin sits elegantly atop the custom vanity. The glass light fixture provides ambient lighting, as does the small puck lights above the vanity .
Tidbits : The counter top is Krion. Custom cabinets coordinate with the kitchen and bar, maintaining continuity within the home. The cabinet is a matte lacquer finish. The natural stone basin is accented with a chrome faucet. All plumbing and cabinetry is by Porcelanosa.

This powder room just makes you feel happy whether you go in for a visit or are just walking by. This client has told me whether it is extended family or friends, every time they walk by or walk out of this powder room, it always brings a smile to their faces.
