What is unique about the Santa Barbara / Montecito market? 

The Santa Barbara and Montecito market is unique in many ways. Prior to the pandemic, about half of our buyers were looking for a second home. Since 2020, we have seen a major influx of young families coming to town to make our community their primary residence which has been an exciting change for us. We offer all the amenities of a big city and all the charm of a small town and think it’s a wonderful blend for all demographics!

What trends have you seen recently in the market?

We continue to see buyers willing to pay a premium for homes that are done and move-in ready. Single-level homes remain in high demand and more and more buyers are looking for homes with pickleball courts!

Why should someone buy in your market? 

Most people make their way to Montecito and Santa Barbara for the lifestyle. We have incredible weather year-round, gorgeous natural beauty, long stretches of sandy beaches, miles of hiking trails, a fabulous food scene, world-class amenities, and the charm of a small town. From an investment standpoint, Montecito and Santa Barbara offer a unique value proposition. Given our location between the mountains and the sea, there is only a limited stretch of land that is suitable for development. These natural boundaries create a scarcity that insulates us from many of the more volatile market swings that other communities experience.

What do you see for the future of your market?

We believe that Montecito and Santa Barbara will only become more valuable with time. People who can choose to live anywhere in the world continue to choose to live in our community and we don’t see that changing. The secret is out and we love welcoming new neighbors to our piece of paradise!
