Vera Wang, renowned fashion designer, has said that her bedroom is her sanctuary. "It's like a refuge," said Wang, "a place where I do a fair amount of designing - at least conceptually, if not literally."
Outside her bedroom, Wang has, indeed, basked in success. Initially training to be an Olympian skater and failing to make the team, Wang entered the fashion world. Wang was hired to be an editor at Vogue immediately upon graduation from college, making her the youngest editor at that magazine. She worked at Vogue for seventeen years, leaving in 1987 to join Ralph Lauren, for whom she worked for two years. At forty years old -yes, forty!- she resigned and became an entrepreneurial, super successful bridal wear designer.
Wang has made wedding gowns for famous celebrities such as Alicia Keys, Mariah Carey, Victoria Beckham, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Avril Lavigne, Hilary Duff, Khloe Kardashian and Kim Kardashian. And the list goes on.
