Frank Gehry’s Winton House Auction
Designed by renowned architect Frank Gehry years before he hit superstardom, this 2,300-square-foot, odd-shaped home—set to be auctioned off on May 19th—features a pyramid-shaped living room and a curved bedroom finished in Minnesota limestone.
Completed in 1987, the residence—composed of metal, stone, and plywood—also consists of a galvanized-steel loft, plus a second rectangular bedroom. Originally a guest house, the Winton home was transported in sections to the University of St. Thomas campus in Owatonna, Minnesota, where it served as a faculty conference and academic center. Last year, the campus was sold to another company, with the agreement that the new owner would upkeep the house while the school shopped it around.
