A One Night Only Event showcasing the “Untold Stories” with the “Changing of the Guards” on Saturday, October 15, 2022, from 5 pm to 9 pm at the Fairfield Estate. Live media coverage is from 5 pm to 7 pm EDT.
Event Location is Fairfield Estate, 7078 E Genesee Street, Fayetteville, NY 13066.
Ribbon cutting ceremony to kick off the worldwide real estate auction.
Followed by Gilded Era/Great Gatsby-themed Party showcasing historical significance.
Story features: The Untold Stories, Arts & Culture, Lifestyle, Historical, and Community Connections.
The heart of the story begins with a prominent lawyer, Andrew S. White, and his wife, notable concert singer Claire Alcee who performed at the White House for President and Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt and used The Fairfield Estate as her creative muse. They were the catalysts to set this story in motion.
Then if books could speak, what a story they would tell. Gustav Stickley designed White's library. Andrew Dickinson White, the co-founder, and first President of Cornell University sat in this library as his nephew Andrew S. White owned and operated this house.
President Teddy Roosevelt is said to have dined in the grand dining room due to his relationship with Andrew White.
The Onondaga Historical Association will attend the event and has provided valuable historical insight.
Now the current homeowners, the Dodds, are hosting a one-night-only Preview Party where prospective buyers, Cornell alums, friends, family, and media outlets will be on hand covering this night of significance, as a ribbon-cutting event followed by a Gilded era themed party marks the passing of the torch from the old to the new.
To honor the past's life and legacy, The Dodd Family will donate a portion of the current property sale to a charity in Central New York. The unique aspect of donation is that the buyer will be able to select one from the following charities after the completion of the online auction:
1. Carrie Lazarus Fund for Extraordinary Talent
2. Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital
3. Cornell University towards a scholarship
