Mottola, who is the former chairman and CEO of Sony Music Entertainment, has built or renovated 14 houses over the years.

This Georgian Colonial-style, lakefront estate in Greenwich was his most recent real estate venture. Mottola bought the 5.7-acre property for $2.85 million in 2010, when it was vacant and overgrown. After designing and building the home for three years, he and his wife Mexican pop star, Thalia, moved in with their two children.

The exterior of the residence is intended to reflect “the tradition of backcountry Greenwich,” Mottola told Mansion Global.

Gallery-like, modern interiors display the family’s art collection, including works by Andy Warhol and Keith Haring.

The nine-bedroom, 14-bathroom, 12,300-square-foot residence “effuses informal luxury with a modern, youthful quality,” the listing states.

A terrace, with an outdoor kitchen and fireplace, overlooks the lake. Outside, a footbridge leads to a private island on the lake.

There is also a swimming pool, with a covered dining area and a carriage house, which Thalia uses as a recording studio. The garage holds six cars.

Mottola said is selling his home because he plans to start building another residence in Greenwich, as well as additional homes in Palm Beach, Florida and Aspen.
