An intricate Persian carpet made in the early 17th century sold at Sotheby’s auction house for $33.7M on Wednesday from the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. The Clark Sickle-Leaf rug blasted previous rug-sale records, selling to an anonymous bidder over the phone.
