Annie Leibovitz is moving on up... well, uptown that is. The 63-year-old celebrity photographer recently listed her West Village compound for a cool $33 million. The 10,200-square-foot home, located on the streets of Greenwich and West 11th, consists of three separate townhouses that Leibovitz began assembling nearly a decade ago.
"It’s very rare to have something like this," broker Paula Del Nunzio of Brown Harris Stevens told the Wall Street Journal. "She created it."
Leibovitz configured the property to include living spaces, offices and guest quarters and set the buildings surrounding a private courtyard garden. The main home features wide-plank wood floors, high ceilings, a formal dining room and a chef’s kitchen. The building that includes Leibovitz’s photography studio has a large reception room. The property includes 13 fireplaces.
According to public records, she purchased the first two buildings — 755-757 Greenwich Street — in 2002 for $4.2 million, and acquired 311 West 11th Street a year later for $1.9 million. Leibovitz previously faced financial problems in 2009, which forced her to list her property and her photo archives as collateral for a multimillion loan.
