What is the key to a successful interior design project?
With great fortune and gratefulness, our market exists in a very moderate climate in the tropics. Atlantic breezes warm us in winter and cool us in summer, therefore opening all the doors to outdoor living. Our key to a successful interior design is driven by a seamless connection the outdoor environment. In all our projects, we attempt to make our interior spaces a seamless extension of the outdoors. Our designs start with exterior consideration first.
What is one important mistake many interior designers make? How have you overcome/avoided it?
Function and harmony. Interior design elements should serve a strong purpose and form must be in harmony with the surroundings. In our case, we strive for harmony with the outdoors in an appealing visual form that is functional in some manner.
Interior designing for others has shaped your career. How does your design aesthetic appear in your own home? Are you as passionate in designing your own personal spaces?
I do not draw a line between indoor and outdoor spaces. I am passionate about my own personal spaces with an emphasis more toward function than visual appeal, however visual appeal, (balance and proportion), are never ignored. The perfect marriage is the ideal combination of the two. I love it when function crosses the border between inside and outside without the realization it is doing so.
