There’s something about an island vacation that puts things in perspective. Away from the bustle of everyday life, sea air, and sunny seclusion are sure to be reminders that the most important things in life are oftentimes found outside the city. And in late 2023, a Caribbean resort with roots in South Florida is slated to take this vision to new heights, bringing sustainability and community to the forefront of island life.

With architectural design by Fort Lauderdale’s Modus Operandi studio, The Stand, Turks and Caicos is set to be one of the Caribbean’s most sustainable—and sophisticated—resort real estate communities. The ultra-luxury condo complex will embrace the Caribbean’s best with 41 beachfront villas, custom residences, and homesites nestled in the heart of Cooper Jack Bay.

The Strand will maximize the natural seclusion of Turks and Caicos, inviting guests to relax and play as they please with thoughtfully designed concepts like the three-bedroom Villa C-1. With 2,021 square feet of interiors, 1,428 square feet of covered exteriors, and 597 square feet encompassing an open terrace and pool, this exotic three-level, oceanfront unit is designed to operate as a single villa or lock-off on separate levels, allowing for an intimate vacation with loved ones or a group getaway with friends. Perfect for any occasion, Villa C-1 and others are furnished opulently with custom oak cabinetry and millwork throughout, as well as natural limestone flooring.

And with community at its center, the resort will give guests and residents plenty of opportunities for fun in the sun, no matter who they’re vacationing with. Amenities like the Beach and Tennis Club—the first-of-its-kind in Turks and Caicos—and private marina will bring adventure while appointments like a water’s edge restaurant and bar and lagoon-like swimming pool offer perfect places to kick back. Guests and residents will also have access to The Strand’s own Club Boats with a private captain, catamarans, kayaks, and paddleboards, as well as two pickleball courts, a state-of-the-art fitness center with a yoga deck, and an artist-in-residence program.

As these amenities bring luxury outdoors, the importance of sustainability is hard to ignore, and The Strand has taken care to protect the wellness of the environment in addition to its people. Renu Energy TCI, a local leader in solar home integration, has partnered with the resort community to offer Tesla Powerwalls in all villas, harnessing the island sun for generations of travelers to come. The complex will support its natural ecosystem with on-site vegetable and fruit gardens, “best practices” for sustainable fishing, and a partnership with the Denver Butterfly Pavilion that will make the property a pollinator sanctuary for bees, dragonflies, and other pollinators.
