Ted Turner's Private Island
Ted Turner—the second largest private landowner in the United States—has recently put up one of his many properties for sale: an entire private island located off the coast of South Carolina that the media mogul purchased in 1979 for his family's recreational use.
Presently priced at $23.777 million, St. Phillips Island's 4,680 acres houses only two structures: a 3,800-square-foot, five-bedroom, five-bath main house Turner built soon after he acquired the land, and the caretaker's house. The isle is one of the few barrier islands in the southeastern United States that possesses a long, white sand stretch, offering ample privacy as well as opportunities for fishing, boating, skiing, and entertaining. Because the island has been protected under a conservation easement, all improvements to it are self-sufficient, with backup solar batteries and its own water tower. The easement requires that the isle be kept in its natural state, and permits only ten residences.
Reese Witherspoon's Spanish Estate
Reese Witherspoon's Brentwood home is on the market for $10.5 million. Adorned with gardens and vines, the Academy Award-winning actress' walled estate is situated on a peaceful cul-de-sac within a gated community.
Along with formal living and dining rooms and a library, the five-bedroom, five-bath house also has a two-story foyer connected to a dramatic meandering staircase. It also has an eat-in kitchen and family room that opens out to the terraces, lawns, and the outdoor fireplace and swimming pool/spa area. The home's master suite has a vaulted ceiling, a fireplace, two walk-in closets, a marble bath, and an extra space that can be used as an office, gym, or extra bedroom.
Prime Time Deion's Dallas Mansion
Formerly listed at $21 million, a residence conceptualized and commissioned by former professional athlete Deion Sanders is set to go to auction on November 18th with no reserve.
Situated on over nine acres, the 29,000-square-foot mansion is comprised of 10 bedrooms, 10 bathrooms. It also has a screening room with a stage, an Astroturf gym, a sauna, a bowling alley, and an arcade, not to mention indoor and outdoor pools with spas, a full-sized football field, and an eight-acre pond with a fountain. The home's master suite has two-story his-and-hers closets with a laundry area and kitchenette, plus an entrance to the master garage and dressing rooms with vanities. The eat-in kitchen has double high-end appliances and has views over the grounds and the family room. A sports court with two hoops sits outside.
Nova Scotia Oceanfront
Poised on four acres, this oceanfront compound—located five minutes away by foot from Hunts Point wharf—comes with 440 feet of shoreline.
The property—currently on the market for $1.1 million—is comprised of three structures, including a main house with a great room, open kitchen, and a fireplace built from rock quarried on site, along with wide expanses of glasses overlooking the ocean. Two cottages sit on either side of the key structure: one is the master suite and is equipped with a luxury bath, two closets, a dressing area, and a study. The second cottage sports two bedrooms, each with its own entrance and en suite bath.
Hilltop Mansion in Lake Sherwood Country Club
Located within the celebrity-filled Lake Sherwood Country Club community, this European-style mansion sits atop 5.2 acres on a hillside overlooking Lake Sherwood in Thousand Oaks, California.
Sporting a price tag just shy of $13 million, the posh, 11,000-square-foot residence sits behind wrought iron gates and a winding drive.
