TopTenRealEstateDeals.com offers fresh real estate news for luxury and celebrity listings across the United States. Here’s a taste of this week’s Top Ten list:
Christie Brinkley's Beach Home
Sited on 1.6 acres on Turks and Caicos' Parrot Cay Island, supermodel Christie Brinkley's private beachfront island paradise is now on the market for $9 million—down from its original asking of $10.75 million.
Surrounded by lush tropical flora, the property's 3,400-square-foot main house boasts three bedrooms and four baths, with the master suite situated in its own detached pavilion steps from the beach. The home's interior boasts whitewashed walls, along with wooden beams and floors. An infinity pool sits outside, along with gardens, a two-bedroom guesthouse, and a golf buggy garage. Resort features include the award-winning COMO Shambhala Retreat, which offers a slew of holistic, Asian-inspired therapies on top of yoga and Pilates. Other services include estate management, private butler and maid service, and in-villa dining. When not being used as a residence, the property can be rented for over $8,000 a day.
JP Morgan's New York Retreat
Set on a 1,500-acre lot on Lake Mohegan in the Adirondacks, JP Morgan's Camp Uncas was once comprised of about 20 buildings including a main lodge, a guesthouse, a dining hall, and facilities that can house up to 30 staff members.
Morgan purchased the swath in the 1890s, and he and his family enjoyed vacationing on the estate until his last descendants unloaded the property in the 1940s. Since then, it's been used as a private vacation home, a museum, and as a Boy Scout camp. In 1973 the compound was bought by a couple who set about renovating it by replacing the roofs and adding heat and modern conveniences. Prior to their purchase, however, the majority of the land was sold to the New York State Forest Preserve, and will stay "forever wild."
These days the property sits on 4.6 acres, with 1,700 feet of shoreline and five buildings, including the 4,000-square-foot, five-bedroom and four-bathroom main lodge, plus two guest cabins, an open-sided boathouse, a children's playhouse, and a lean-to ideal for picnics and cookouts. Designated a National Landmark in 2010, the entire property is now on the market for $3.25 million, which includes all of its original furnishings including linens and silverware.
Knute Rockne's South Bend Home
This two-story, Tudor-style house—currently priced at $500,000—once belonged to the late Knute Rockne, considered by many the greatest coach in college football history.
Located in South Bend—an affluent neighborhood a few miles from Notre Dame University, where Rockne once worked—the 4,180-square-foot home has four bedrooms and three baths. It sits on a double lot that includes a tennis court, a detached two-car garage, gardens, and a large terrace with an outdoor kitchen ideal for entertaining. The estate's grounds are pristine, having remained fairly unchanged since Rockne and his family owned the property.
Vermont Ondawa Estate Auction
Poised on 37 acres overlooking the Green Mountains, the Ondawa estate was once owned by the Orvis family, owners of the sports outfitting company and clothiers, Orvis.
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the estate consists of three separate buildings including a four-bedroom, five-bath main house; a four-bedroom, four-bath guesthouse; and a cabin with a sleeping loft and a half-bath. In addition, a small stocked trout pond and the Battenkill River—which cuts through its yard—provide ample on-site fishing.
Kelly Ripa Finally Sells
TV stars Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos have officially unloaded their 6,792-square-foot penthouse in New York.
Located in a red brick prewar boutique, the five-bedroom, five-bath duplex boasts a private keyed elevator, an outdoor kitchen, and lush landscaping, not to mention 3,073 square feet of private terrace. Its impressive kitchen is outfitted with an abundance of state-of-the-art appliances, including two dishwashers and three integrated Sub Zero refrigerators. Formerly listed at $24.5 million, the city pad—which the celebrity couple originally bought for $9.5 million in 2005 and invested millions in to revamp—just sold for $20 million.
