With the Super Bowl coming to Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida this February, countless tourists are planning to visit for the big event. Of course, if you’ve never been to Miami before, you may have a few questions that are standing in the way of the perfect trip. Here’s my advice to help you have the best Super Bowl weekend possible.

What part of the city do you recommend staying in?

There are a few places you can go that will put you as close to the action at Hard Rock Stadium as possible. If you decide to stay right by the stadium The Guitar Hotel at Seminole Hard Rock would be an excellent choice.

If you are looking for luxury accommodations closer to the beach, I definitely recommend venturing to Aventura, which will put you about 6 miles from the stadium at high-end JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort & Spa, or Sunny Isles Beach with a world-known Acqualina Resort & Spa, or The Diplomat Beach Resort in Hollywood Beach.

Do you have a favorite hotel?

There are so many great hotels in Miami that I couldn’t possibly recommend just one. Any of the places I just mentioned would be a good pick, just pay attention to how close your accommodations are to the stadium and any other amenities you may want to access.

Traffic will be the only real issue to consider, which is why anyone attending the Super Bowl will probably want to get as close as possible. From there, it’s really just a matter of deciding if you want something budget-friendly yet comfortable or something upper-scale, like a Diplomat Beach or Acqualina Resorts.

What are the restaurants that people must visit?

There are so many delicious restaurants in Miami, I have no trouble thinking up at least a dozen that I will recommend to everyone coming to South Florida for the Super Bowl. For starters, Abiaka is just 9 miles north of the stadium. It’s an expansive, 160-seat restaurant and it’s worth braving the crowd for the truly delicious food.

Others I would suggest trying include JWB Prime Steak and Seafood on the beach and Dune in Fort Lauderdale along with the Hollywood favorites of Le Tub and Monkitail.

Do you have a recommendation for where to shop while in town?

There are so many great places to shop in Miami that you really can’t go wrong! I would suggest starting with Aventura Mall and luxury shopping in Bal Harbour Shops. Dolphin Mall also has an incredible array of outlet stores, featuring more than 240 shops for all tastes and budgets.

Are there any museums visitors should see while they’re here?

Those looking for a culture enriched trip should definitely spend some time at Miami’s many museums and historical centers. There’s something for everyone, with the Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) and the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science both consistently ranking at the top of everyone’s lists. Families should also check out the Miami Children’s Museum as it’s one of the largest in the nation.
